Introduction
Risk Analysis for the ROTOR(+) should be undertaken by the customer's own Health and Safety Department based on the following information.
ROTOR HDA:
The ROTOR has many safety protections in place such as if the user opens the front screen the ROTOR will stop running. Even if a hand is placed on the moving turntable it will stop moving. The only hazards apart from the use of the ROTOR are standard to using any electrical equipment in the laboratory environment. eg. avoid water around any electrical connections, wipe up any spills etc...
ROTOR+
The ROTOR+ has all the same protections in place. Where necessary extra safety labels have been added such as a warning about the moving turntable.
Note: To identify the difference between ROTOR (pre- July 2021) and ROTOR+ please see this article : What model of ROTOR do I have - ROTOR / ROTOR+?
Compressor :
A compressor or mains airline connection is attached to the ROTOR which introduces compressed air hazards but this should not affect general ROTOR use. The user should be trained in starting and running the compressor.
Maintenance :
Maintenance should only be completed by a responsible person in the lab or by a Singer engineer. All instructions will include health and safety warnings.
Important Note: A Risk Assessment should be performed in accordance with the customer's local regulations. This is the responsibility of the customer.
