Answer : The PhenoBooth has a UV (peak ~390nm) LED board, and a Blue (peak ~470nm) LED board. Some PhenoBooths now contain a Cyan (peak ~510nm) LED board instead. These are combined with standard 25mm emission filters to allow the visualisation and imaging of specific fluorophores.
The PhenoBooth was designed to identify fluorophores on a whole-cell level when driven by strong promoters. It’s not an appropriate tool for localisation studies, or to identify relative fluorescence of gene tags or protein fusions.
Based on the specific boards in your PhenoBooth, you can visualise:
UV and Blue:
- GFP
- BFP
Cyan and Blue:
- GFP
- mCherry
