Answer : Below is a typical question we have received regarding the use of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) system
"We are using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) system to automate the data management side of ROTOR screening (how to keep track of the mutants, the phenotypic data we generate, etc). Do you have any file format samples to share so we could see how to have IN and OUT data from the ROTOR? Is it reading/making CSV types to pass sample lists or getting back any list of samples and values?"
Answer : The ROTOR(+) has an operation logging function. As a default, this is turned off but can be easily turned on by the user if required. The image below demonstrates the turning on of Operation Logging. There is an option for selecting where the logging file is stored.
The log file is saved as a CSV file. An example CSV file is attached to this article. This contains all interactions between pads, plates, colonies etc. It has the following headings:
- Date
- Time
- Operation ID
- Operation Name
- Operation Status
- Sub Operation ID
- Sub Operation Name
