 Agar must be autoclaved prior to use to avoid the growth of contaminants. However, there are alternatives: -

• Gamma Irradiation
• Electron-beam linear acceleration 
• Ethylene Oxide Gas 

Ingredients

• 4g Yeast Extract 
• 8g Bacterial Peptone 
• 8g Glucose 
• 6.4g Agar 
• 400ml Water 
• Antibiotic (varies depending on use)
