Introduction
TeamViewer will work with any Operating System assuming that the IT department at the customer end is happy for the equipment to be connected to their network.
Note : Older laptops will be have been set up with LogMeIn remote access software. Singer Instruments no longer use this method so TeamViewer will need to be installed.
There are two options for running Teamviewer
Option 1
The ROTOR and PIXL come with Teamviewer installed
- This may be configured to only be used via LAN. We use this tool if Secomea access is configured. This is the preferred and very secure method of remote access. It also means that the user does not need to attend the instrument as long as it is left turned on and connected to an active internet port. How to set up the PIXL for remote access.
- If there are problems setting up Secomea then the other option is to use Teamviewer directly but this requires modification of the TeamViewer set-up. Please see the video below.
Note : Secomea no longer in service
In February 2024 we stopped using Secomea for Remote Access. Whilst it was a really good method for accessing customer PIXL's remotely without the customer needing to be present we found that many of our customers were unable to connect their PIXL's to an internet connection due to local internet security policies. We now use TeamViewer directly. While it can be set up for Unattended Access it is easier to arrange a convenient time when the customer and a Singer Engineer is available. Our engineers appreciate the dfferent time zones and can be flexible to suit the customers.
Please use the Teamviewer Direct Connection instructions to set up Teamviewer. Note that the cable will need to be moved to the other internet port as explained.
Teamviewer Direct Connection
The direct method of connecting to TeamViewer the internet cable needs to be moved to the other internet connection point on the PIXL - left-hand connection without the blue dot above and to a nearby active internet port.
For the ROTOR the touchscreen/ laptop has to be connected to a nearby active internet port.
Option 2
